History
1989 - Mr Steven Lockwood and Mr Andrew Scriven rented some premises and with
the assistance of 12 employees A & S Packing was formed to offer a quality
inspection and packing service to the major glass manufacturers.
1991 - Due to the solid foundation of knowledge of the industry and good business sense the company soon saw growth and was now employing 60 staff to meet added customer requirements.
1992 - The growth of the company had now exceeded all expectations and also the limitations of its original premises. It was time to lay some foundations and this was done by the purchase of the depot in Goldthorpe. The Company now had its Head Office.
1994 - With the original premises not coming up to the ever demanding hygiene requirements of our customers the company relocated this depot to newer more acceptable premises.
1995 - The company saw an opening
in the field of shrink sleeving. So with some investment the sleeving department
was born at the Goldthorpe depot.
One of our major customers requested an operation that was dedicated and more
accessible and the Company set up with the customers assistance a satellite depot
on their premises.
1998 - Taking a good look at the business and the growing requirement for more sleeving capacity it was decided to extend the Goldthorpe depot.
2000- Another good business decision was made and two inspection operations were
amalgamated to a new site working a double shift system to ensure the output
capabilities were maintained.
Following a request from our customers A & S Packing commenced the inspection
and repair of wooden pallets at two of our customers premises.
2001 - A & S Packing wanted to extend its services further north and opened the depot in Dumbarton to serve the major distillers and glass suppliers to Scotland.
2005 - With the
Scottish Depot soon finding its feet and enjoying the same success, larger premises
were moved into to enable the processes carried out in South Yorkshire could
be duplicated in Scotland.
To ensure the continuation and improvement of the services
offered by A & S
Packing the company purchased a dedicated tray less shrink wrapper that has the
capability of using orientated film.
